Some bridges, if not burnt, were really scorched today.
A young programmer announced last week on his intranet blog that he had resigned. No big deal, happens all the time. He wanted to go out gracefully, blah, blah, blah.
Fast forward to today. He let loose not only with a flame thrower but he tossed a few grenades just for good measure. He really slammed his organization and some products and it was, really, over the top.
What this young man does not realize, unless he is leaving the area and the industry for good, he is in a very small community full of people with memories like elephants. His new company will want to put him on a contract and someone with authority on the project might be one of the people he just burned.
Bad idea. Please always remember, as tempting as it is sometimes, just keep quiet and leave. Save criticisms for your exit interview.
No flame throwers. No regrets.
