Bob Sutton had an interesting post today. He wrote about psychologist Robert Sternberg’s paper on page 376 of the May 2002 issue of American Psychologist, titled “Creativity as a Decision.”
It talks of the act of deciding to be creative. One quote, from Bob, stuck with me. He said, “the common theme he (Mr. Sternberg) sees is that creative people have made the decision to be creative, regardless of setbacks and frustrations.
I never saw myself as one who is creative. Evidence by the face below, which I drew after Jenny told me she thought I was. But I started drawing my faces anyway, be they good, bad or indifferent, to let them speak for me.
I decided to be creative.
